ArtSocial Committee
The ArtSocial Committee provides Plantation owners with opportunities to enjoy visual, musical, and culinary arts. Each year, the Committee sponsors the annual St. George Plantation Photography contest, showcasing the winning photos in the Magnolia Clubhouse lobby. They also offer classes to expand owners’ and visitors’ interests and creativity. The subjects of the workshops vary each year.
The ArtSocial Committee is responsible for all social events within the Plantation. They provide a variety of events for owners and guests that range from holiday parties to casual gatherings and cocktail events. They play an integral role in the annual Owners’ Weekend festivities in October of each year.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee serves as an advisory body to the SGPOA Board of Directors on financial matters. Its main job is to help ensure the association’s finances are managed responsibly, transparently, and in line with the community’s long-term goals. Their key responsibilities include:
- Budget review and recommendations: The Finance Committee reviews key financial plans and figures — including major components like the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) — and makes recommendations to the Board during the annual budgeting process.
- Capital Improvement Plan oversight: One specific duty noted in SGPOA’s official policies is that the Finance Committee reviews the CIP (which outlines major projects like roadwork or facility upgrades) and forwards its suggestions to the Board before the Board approves a final plan.
- Financial planning input: Provide input on assessments, reserve levels, and spending priorities so that the association stays fiscally sound and able to maintain assets over the long term.
- Supporting transparency and oversight: From meeting reports and budgets, members of this committee, which is headed by the BOD Treasurer, work to help communicate financial decisions and conditions back to the Board and, indirectly, to owners.
Infrastructure Committee
The Infrastructure Committee plans, evaluates and prioritizes physical improvements and major capital projects. It helps develop the community’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) — this is the schedule of new physical projects valued at over $5,000 that are expected to last three years or more. These can include items like road work, drainage, major equipment, and upgrades to shared facilities. The committee does this in conjunction with other advisory groups (like Finance) and makes recommendations for Board consideration. The timing and phases of all capital projects must be evaluated and prioritized. The committee also reviews maintenance reserve studies — assessments of the condition, value, and life expectancy of Plantation infrastructure assets — and makes recommendations on reserve funding that affect the next fiscal year’s budget.
Recreation Committee
The Recreation Committee organizes the fun times – everything from bridge and bunco to exercise classes and pickleball clinics! The Committee manages existing organized leisure activities and initiates new ones to offer owners and their guests a wide range of enjoyment, even sponsoring short-term classes and clinics (some fee-based) led by skilled instructors. It coordinates the activities calendar with the St. George Plantation Owners’ Association office and coordinates a number of special activities around the Annual Owners’ Weekend in October.
